Sudan: The Last of the Rhinos

BBC, 2017

  • "Surreal, fascinating, tear-jerking and jaw-dropping, this was superb TV . . . but what a tragedy that it ever had to be made."

    ★★★★★ The Daily Mail

  • “A colourful lament for the plight of the White Rhino”

    ★★★★ The Telegraph

The remarkable story of Sudan, a 43-year-old Northern White Rhino and  the very last male of his kind on the planet.  40 years ago, Sudan was taken from his homeland in Central Africa by animal catchers working for the Chipperfield safari parks. He  lived his life as a prized exhibit in a  provincial zoo in former Czechoslovakia while the rest of  his species were wiped out in Africa by rhino horn hunters. Now, as Sudan has become an unwitting celebrity,  the film follows a team of conservationists and scientists on a desperate 11th hour battle to save a sub-species teetering on the brink of extinction.
